COULD YOU SAVE A GRAPE FROM THE IMPACT OF A 1 KG WEIGHT?

As part of our WAR CHILD topic, year 6 and their parents had a fabulous afternoon making models of Anderson Shelters.
They had to make a structure strong enough to withstand the impact a 1 kg weight.
Did they save their little grapes? Yes they did!!!!
Congratulations on a positively competitive,  successful and FUN afternoon!

ELECTRICITY

Year 6 started off their electricity topic in science with trying to make a circuit without wires! We discovered that tin foil is an excellent conductor and did the job of transferring electrical energy from the cell to the bulb in a continuous cycle. We had fun and enjoyed getting creative!

Year 6 can't wait for their next coding lesson with Mr Harris this week.  We are creating Blitz scenes and characters getting to safety during an air raid. We love our War Child topic links to computing. If we can do this in just one lesson, just imagine what we will achieve!

DT: Wooden Animals

Well... we are getting closer to completing our wooden animals. All glued and sanded. Base coat of paint on and sketching out the details. Can you guess which Arctic animals we have chosen to inspire our designs?

Computer CODING with Mr Harris

Y6 had a fab time with Mr Harris in this week's coding lesson. We were creating our own game with a Mexican theme. Some children are now super-fast at creating blocks of codes and can debug successfully! We have to thank Mr Harris (with a huge THANKYOU) for all the time he puts into preparing our lessons, without that, we would not have gained so many skills.

Year 6 HAVE managed to SQUEEZE in some D.T. these last 2 weeks! We don't know how we found the time- but we did!
Have a look at us working on our wooden designs for Polar animals!

All of Year 6 have put their heart and soul into their SATs this week. We couldn't be more proud of the children for their efforts. Parents have also been amazing with their support and we have had many other staff go above and beyond in many ways to support year 6 children both before in the run up as well as during the SATs week itself. Year 6 teachers give praise to you all with an IMMENSE THANK YOU!

POLAR PROJECT

Y6 have had some really amazing models in this week from a homework project. Well done children and well done family members who got involved and helped! We love them! Watch out for some more as they arrive.

ICEBERG HABITATS

Y6 created some fabulous diagrams of iceberg eco-systems. See how busy life can get on and around an iceberg! Many creatures can survive because of the freshwater that has slowly melted away from the ice.
