PARALLEL CIRCUITS IN PRACTISE!

We finally managed to get our parallel circuits working so that each light bulb could be switched on and off separately! It was a lot of fun (and frustration) working out how we could operate each bulb individually. But we did it!
We also created series circuits with up to 7 bulbs at a time!
See our photos and video clips.

We are very proud of our calendars in year 6. Water colour paintings with quilled paper curls/shapes to decorate.

COULD YOU SAVE A GRAPE FROM THE IMPACT OF A 1 KG WEIGHT?

As part of our WAR CHILD topic, year 6 and their parents had a fabulous afternoon making models of Anderson Shelters.
They had to make a structure strong enough to withstand the impact a 1 kg weight.
Did they save their little grapes? Yes they did!!!!
Congratulations on a positively competitive,  successful and FUN afternoon!

ELECTRICITY

Year 6 started off their electricity topic in science with trying to make a circuit without wires! We discovered that tin foil is an excellent conductor and did the job of transferring electrical energy from the cell to the bulb in a continuous cycle. We had fun and enjoyed getting creative!

Year 6 can't wait for their next coding lesson with Mr Harris this week.  We are creating Blitz scenes and characters getting to safety during an air raid. We love our War Child topic links to computing. If we can do this in just one lesson, just imagine what we will achieve!

DT: Wooden Animals

Well... we are getting closer to completing our wooden animals. All glued and sanded. Base coat of paint on and sketching out the details. Can you guess which Arctic animals we have chosen to inspire our designs?

Computer CODING with Mr Harris

Y6 had a fab time with Mr Harris in this week's coding lesson. We were creating our own game with a Mexican theme. Some children are now super-fast at creating blocks of codes and can debug successfully! We have to thank Mr Harris (with a huge THANKYOU) for all the time he puts into preparing our lessons, without that, we would not have gained so many skills.
